Emptying church storage space
Clearing out a church is not an everyday job. Yet, we recently received exactly such an assignment in Rotterdam. The sexton of a church on the New Binnenweg contacted us because the storage space of the church building was completely full of old items.
Over the years, all sorts of things had been stored there: old church pews, wood, garden tools, packaging materials, bulky waste, and various other materials. It had simply become too much to clear out ourselves. Time to call in our team.
When we arrived in Rotterdam, we immediately saw that it was going to be a big job. The storage room was full of stuff that had been lying around for years. Old church pews, wooden parts, boxes, and all kinds of other materials were mixed together.
We immediately started sorting, hauling, and removing. We kept everything that could still be recycled separate. We disposed of the rest as bulky waste.
At the end of the day, we had approximately 20 cubic meters of waste removed. The church's storage space was completely empty again.
What made this job extra special was, of course, the church building itself. You don't get to enter a church every day to carry out an clearance.
During the work, we even went up into the building near the church tower. There lay old wooden parts of church pews and other materials. Some items were probably more than 100 years old.
That's what makes our work so fun. We visit special places, meet interesting people, and sometimes come across the most surprising items.
